KRMS Clothing & Shoe Recycling Program

Did you know that approximately 85% of textile waste ends up in landfills each year? That’s nearly 17 billion pounds of clothing and shoes—waste that contributes to climate change through greenhouse gas emissions.

The good news is that Kingswood Regional Middle School (KRMS) is taking action! We now offer a convenient way for families to recycle unwanted clothes and shoes. A new clothes and shoe/boot recycling bin is located behind the middle school, making it easy for our community to help reduce waste and give textiles a second life.

Unlike bottles, cans, and paper—which are commonly recycled—most local communities don’t provide a convenient way to recycle clothing and footwear. KRMS is proud to fill that gap and make a positive impact on the environment.

When you have a chance, please carefully drive behind the middle school to drop off your unwanted clothes and shoes.

Below is a list of items that can be placed in our bin:

Clothing: pants, jeans, skirts, dresses, suits, shorts, shirts, tees, tanks

Footwear: shoes, boots, heels, sneakers, sandals

Accessories: hats, belts, ties, scarves

Handbags: wallets, totes, backpacks, briefcases
